From Scrabble, CHUCK WOOLERY! (Scrabble has been off the air since 1993!) It is now time to play Hollywood Squares with Jon Bauman!
The contestant representing X won the game and $650. O went home with $300. The contestant would now go with Gene Rayburn and play the Super Match which could pay off over $30,000!
This contestant won $1000 and now had to choose someone to play head to head match with, and hopefully they held the card with the number 30. If one of the stars has a card that says 30, the jackpot would be multiplied by 30 giving a contestant a chance to win up to $30,000. There were also 20's and 10's. The contestant picked Jon Bauman. Does he have a 30?
No. It's a 10. The contestant would now play for 10 times that amount or
____________Candy. The contestant said Chocolate. What did Jon write down?
COTTON! Cotton was a very good answer but it was not a match. The contestant previously won over $20,000 during a 3 day period. Not bad! Plus, she was coming back on Monday.
Arlene Francis had the 30!
If you would like tickets to see The Match Game Hollywood Square Hour, YOU ARE 25 YEARS TOO LATE! The Match Game Hollywood Squares was canceled a few weeks later. The show ran from October 31, 1983 to July 27, 1984.
This was the last time Gene Rayburn would host any version of Match Game. After three decades of Match Game, there has been black and white, orange, and the blue and yellow of a great hour long show, The Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour!
NOTE: This was Arlene Francis' last television appearence. RUMOR: YOU WILL NEVER SEE THE MATCH GAME HOLLYWOOD SQUARES HOUR EVER AGAIN. It is rumored that Game Show Network (gsn) was asked not to air reruns of this show at the request of Gene Rayburn. Another reason is the joint ownership of the show between Mark Goodson Productions (now owned by Fremantle Media) and Orion Television (now owned by MGM), which produced Hollywood Squares with John Davidson from 1986-1989.
